TOWER STORM Two year old colt - STORM CAT x FORTY NINER x TOWER WALK(GB) OWNER/TRAINER - LONESPEED
RECORD: 2001: 9 / 7-1-1 2001 Campaign:
2nd: A maiden race at Dubai (5.5 Furlongs) 3rd: The RUNDERBAR Special (1 Mile) By- Rbokie24 A Tower of Power. Enough said. Tower Storm’s freshman campaign was nothing short of spectacular as the son of the mighty Storm Cat out of a Forty Niner mare dominated the two-year-old division by stalking his opponents like a jungle cat before launching his attack at the top of the stretch. Don’t be fooled by his divisional ranking of 6th. This youngster feared no horse and proved his point by winning the 2001 Breeders Bowl Juvenile with ease and then capping off his tremendous season romping to nearly a seven-length victory in the Alfred E. Smith Memorial. It didn’t surprise lonespeed when his future champion pranced out onto the Dubai surface for the first time and ran a game second to South Pacific who led gate to wire impressively. Lonespeed knew that he had something special in Tower Storm and was proven to be correct just two weeks later in Ireland when a late powerful surge propelled his colt to the wire first, breaking his maiden for $31,800. After an easy non-winners of two lifetime victory over an unforgiving surface, Tower Storm stretched out and dominated in the IN HOUSE. Lonespeed then could not find a suitable race for his rising star and placed him out of his conditions in a non winners of four other than maiden, claiming, optional or starter where he won going away at his farthest distance yet, 7.5 furlongs. Lonespeed was elated and began pointing the colt towards the Breeders Bowl. His first stop on the Breeders Bowl track was on his favorite Dubai surface in the Grade II Camel Juvenile. Tower Storm did not disappoint as he overtook the leaders at the top of the stretch and cruised home to victory. Four weeks later, the son of Storm Cat found himself in Cajun country, in the RUNDERBAR Special. Fatigue from the long plane trip and a change in the climate took its toll on Tower Storm and he finished a disappointing third, losing by over seven lengths. That didn’t discourage lonespeed.
Tower Storm was immediately shipped to New York in preparation for the main event. With only three weeks to train, Tower Storm looked like a new horse. The hot, steamy Louisiana weather was behind him and he welcomed the cooler, less humid New York City climate. With his falter in Louisiana, Tower Storm’s odds for the Breeders Bowl were set at 8/1. Lonespeed smiled and quietly walked to the window. He’s still smiling.
